Choosing the right flooring for healthcare, and hospital settings

We are frequently told that identifying, and specifying the right flooring product is a challenging part of the process for design teams working on hospital, and healthcare settings. Finding a product that balances safety, budget constraints, relevance, functionality, patient comfort, and also the well being of those working in the space can result in a quality floor that is fit for purpose. But it is not an easy brief to meet. Specifying a product that is suitable for heavy footfall corridors, softer settings such as family rooms, stairs, specialist areas, and patient rooms that are prone to indentation and wear, requires a multipurpose floor type or a mix of different product ranges resulting in further challenges.

Rubber flooring products are a great option as they can offer a right, relevant and robust specification by delivering the following benefits to spaces, users, and settings:

  • Infection control as a result of Artigo’s natural bacteriostatic and fungistatic properties;
  • Improved indoor air quality ;
  • Options for specialist backing types for reduced impact sound and underfoot comfort;
  • Easy maintenance;
  • Slip resistance;
  • Wide array of tones, colours, and designs to compliment and contrast whilst maintaining uniformity throughout spaces
