Artigo’s dedicated environmentally focused design initiative

GAIA is the conceptual name for Artigo’s evolving sourcing methodology.

It is a pioneering eco-design working method which allows Artigo to continually evolve its product through substituting traditional ingredients with more sustainable equivalents. The product delivered does not change, but through prioritising lower footprint inputs the overall environmental impact is lowered.  

Artigo is currently the only rubber flooring manufacturer to undertake this unique initiative aiming at consistently reducing the impact of its products.

GAIA’s five point focus.

• Rubber largely produced using bio-based oils coming from plants or seeds resulting in a reduced dependence on non-renewable resources.(image)
• Silica obtained from usually discarded rice husks – reducing a resource intensive manufacturing process.
• Recycled Calcium Carbonate derived from Carrara white marble waste.
• Removal of pigmentation from bottom layer allowing additional and varied recycled content into the cushioned layer.
• Recycling of own waste material with repurposing of pre and post processed waste
